Easton’s Michelle Falcone has certainly come up with a hit with “Celebrate CT.” I took my second excursion with this wonderful local company and I enjoyed every moment. My first trip was all about visiting the nooks and hideaways of beautiful Easton. This time I joined an intimate group as we visited with local artists on the Art Lovers Tour.
We all met at the Easton Village Store for a delicious continental breakfast before we boarded our luxury bus.
First stop was at the home of Easton Artist Robert Brennan.Whether it be an abstract, a New England landscape or a covered construction, Robert Brennan has it mastered. A prolific artist and well loved teacher, Brennan’s art filled me and took my breath away. Rob and his lovely wife, Pat, opened their home for us to explore. https://www.therestlesseye.
Our next stop was at NEST Arts Factory which is a loft building filled with artists studios. We split into groups to visit several artists including Redding’s Denise Susalka. We were treated to wine cheese and local honey while we browsed. The artists were eager for us to see and hear about their work. There were painters, sculptors, fabric artists, musicians jewelry makers, photographers and more. We were fortunate to have this private time at the Nest because they are only open to the public a few times a year.
Our next stop was to Nichols Pottery where Barbara gave us a lesson on throwing a pot on the wheel and showed us how to stack a kiln. Her wonderful creations were inspiring.
All I wanted to do when I got home was to create something!
Take a CelebrateCT day trip soon. You’ll feel relaxed and pampered and return with a greater appreciation for our lovely state.
