New Pond Farm Annual Harvest Festival

October 13 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Saturday October 13th, 11am – 4pm (Rain Date: Sunday October 14th, 1 – 4 pm)

Come celebrate the changing of the season with an exciting family afternoon on the farm amidst the beautiful fall foliage and enjoy historic demonstrations, animal encounters, traditional crafts, and more.

There will be historical demonstrations: like broom making and fleece spinning. Learn about Make & Break Engines and antique tools. There will be livestock encounters: enjoy a wagon ride through the pastures with a team of majestic Percherons (1-3 p.m.); watch our sheep being shorn then help to “skirt” the fleece, preparing it for spinning. Learn how to become a beekeeper and watch industrious honeybees in our observation hive. Meet our dairy cows, enjoy their freshly pasteurized milk and churn fresh butter. Try your hand at Harvest Crafts: create a grapevine wreath with dried flowers from our gardens; decorate a pumpkin; roll a beeswax candle; make gourd creatures, & MORE old fashioned fun!

This year’s special guest will be AWESOME RAINFOREST REPTILES at 2 p.m.*

Have you ever wanted to meet and touch a live crocodile or alligator? Spend an unforgettable afternoon with dynamic conservation educator and herpetologist Michael Ralbovsky.

Michael travels across the country introducing students of all ages to the marvels and mysteries of ancient reptiles. He will introduce us to an awesome group of live crocodilians. Michael serves as a consultant for zoological parks across the country, and provides animals for television, working with shows on the Discovery Channel and the Animal Planet, including Jeff Corwin’s Animal Quest. Michael’s love and respect for reptiles are infectious – come and be amazed!

* If all seats fill, Michael will offer a second show at 3 p.m.

The cost of admission is $5 per person (over the age of 3) or $20 per family with small additional fees for crafts and delicious seasonal fare thanks to the Girl Scouts of Redding.

Please leave your dogs at home!
