BoS Special Meeting

Several options to cut the budget were discussed at tonight’s Special Board of Selectman meeting.

Thanks to a change in health care provider for the town, a savings of $50,000 is expected. Also, the retirement of the Land use Coordinator, Jo-an Brooks opens the opportunity to transfer these responsibilities to the Zoning Officer, Aimee Pardee. Savings realized would be approximately $40,000.

A discussion ensued about cutting the increase in the grant to the library by half, saving $13,000 and cutting the road repair budget by $16,000 but the BoS decided against both options.

Because of te expectation of increased legal costs, the legal budget was increased by $50,000.

Several members of the public commented on the importance of the BoS to keep funding for the library in the budget.

A motion was made to reduce the budget to $14698,761. Passed unanimously.
