Medicare 2020 Get ready to assess your Medicare coverage for the 2020 season. Bob Murphy, our expert on the subject, will give a free presentation on what’s new about the program for the upcoming year. Register for this free info session scheduled for Oct. 8th at 1:00 pm. Bob is also willing to schedule FREE one on one consultations as a follow up to this program.

Free Monthly opera talks with Jean Schroeder Oct. 15th at 10:00 am. This session’s theme will be “Manon” and other fallen women in operas. Additional sessions will be held at 10:00 am on 11/19 and 12/10.

Indian Henna Painting Demonstration and Participation along with a discussion of Diwali, the Hindu Celebration of Light, will be presented on Oct. 16th at 12:45 pm by Garima and Meeta, who have been our excellent presenters in the past. Be sure to register your attendance by Oct. 14th. (Free).

Flu Clinics will be offered in the Heritage Center lounge on Oct. 17th, 9:00 – 11:00 am. Looking ahead, “Vote & Vac” voting day sessions will be held on Nov. 5th from 9:30 am – 2:00 pm and 3:30 – 7:00 pm.

Book Discussion Group will meet on Oct. 28th at 1:30. Focus for this month will be the book “Midnight Children” by Salman Rushdie.

AARP Drive Smart will be offered on Oct. 28th from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Specifically designed for those over 50 to improve driver skills & save on auto insurance! Register with our office if you wish to attend.

Free Jack O’ Lantern Carving on Oct. 30th, at 1:00 in the Arts & Crafts room. Join Ruth Moran’s workshop on making Jack O’Lanterns for Halloween. Pumpkins and all materials and tools will be provided. Finished pumpkins will be displayed on the Town Green on Oct. 31st. Limited enrollment.

Give Redding a Halloween Glow! Bring your hand-carved Jack O’Lantern to the Town Green on Oct 31st for display from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. Make Redding Center Eye-Catching for Halloween! Redding Garden Club will be there to provide LED votives for each Jack O’Lantern. Stop by the gazebo for cider and donuts when you drop off your creation.

Work on Umpawaug Road

The Redding Highway Department will be working on Umpawaug Road beginning Wednesday, September 25th from 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.  Residents should expect periodic closures and delays and are urged to seek alternate routes.
