The Redding Garden Club’s annual Spring Plant Sale is the go-to stop to celebrate spring in the garden, and this year’s Sale is no exception. The Plant Sale will be held Saturday, May 12 from 9am to 1pm at Lonetown Farm, and feature a wide variety of annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, hanging baskets, and member-grown plants, many of which are deer-resistant.
Throughout the day, Master Gardeners will be on hand with plant care advice. Shoppers will find a selection of garden tools handpicked by the Garden Club, and be able to pick up garden-related items at tag sale prices at “Second Hand Rose.” Everyone is encouraged to stop by the “Potting Shed,” where shoppers who purchase a plant and container can have it potted up free of charge.
The Plant Sale is a community event, with the chance to meet many of Redding’s non-profit groups and learn how they help make Redding a special place to live. Volunteers from the Redding Conservation Commission’s “Trail Tenders,” the Norwalk River Valley Trail, Neighbors and Newcomers, Highstead, and New Pond Farm will be among those on hand. Highstead will be distributing information on wetland buffer plantings, which is especially appropriate for many Redding homeowners.
This is a major fundraiser for the Redding Garden Club and supports its civic beautification projects, which include planting and maintaining almost two-dozen public garden sites in town.
