Danbury on Fire! Author Talk

Saturday, April 6, 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m., Mark Twain Library

Author Talk: 1777 – Danbury on Fire! by Millicent Bell Hughes (Recommended for Ages 10 and Up)

Virginia author Millicent Bell Hughes will speak about her journey to publish 1777 – Danbury on Fire!, a book inspired by her family’s connections to the Danbury area during the American Revolutionary War. She will talk about why genealogy is important to modern families and how to find information through varied (and sometimes unusual) sources. Audience input will steer Hughes’ talk about her adventures in producing an area classic!

The story of the British army’s arrival in Danbury is told by a fictitious 12-year-old boy, but the events and other characters in the drama were real Danbury patriots and loyalists. Millicent has written an exciting and suspenseful story.

This talk is for anyone interested in American Revolutionary War history, and in writing, publishing, and genealogy research. The author will have copies of her book available for purchase. Light refreshments will be served.
